Recreation and Sport Services

Ģ��Ƶ University's Recreation and Sport Services program, offered at multiple regional campuses, provides a broad background in recreation, sports, health and fitness. Courses emphasize practical skills in leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving within a Liberal Arts framework, which can be applied to various professions.

Students have flexibility in course selection, along with the requirement for a minor or certificate, which allows them to customize their degree and enhance their job market opportunities. The program also caters to transfer students with relevant associate degrees.

Admissions Requirements

There are no admission requirements beyond University admission requirements. Students transferring with an Associate Degree from another institution may seek written permission from the Program Coordinator to waive the minor requirement.

Curriculum

The Recreation and Sport Services bachelor's degree program requires a minimum of 120 semester hours. Students complete courses three content areas: recreation, sport and physical activity, and consumer awareness.

All Recreation and Sport Services majors are required to complete a minor or certificate program under consultation with their advisor. Students who follow advising guidelines may be able to complete two minors or a double major.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Recreation and Sport Services program are equipped for careers in a variety of sport and activity settings, ranging from: professional sports organizations, private and/or scholastic club sports teams, community recreation centers, Parks and Recreation, private fitness centers, ecotourism, and senior living facilities. Others will pursue advanced degrees in Master's programs, transitioning into fields like business management.
