Three OHIO employees named as Outstanding Administrator Award winners

Three outstanding Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University administrators will be honored at the Administrative Service Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 6.

The event, which will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom, will also celebrate administrative staff members who have reached significant service milestones. This year's milestones include 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University. 

All members of the OHIO community are invited to this special event, which will also recognize administrators who retire in 2025.

The recipients of the 2024-2025 Outstanding Administrator Awards who will be honored at the ceremony are:

  • Terry St. Peter  - Director for the Brigadier General James M. Abraham and Colonel Arlene F. Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center
  • Rebecca Miller - Executive Director of Community Relations for the College of Health Sciences and Professions
  • Larry Hayman - Director of Legal Engagement and Pre-Law Program for the College of Arts and Sciences

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University Administrative Senate also congratulates the finalists for the Outstanding Administrative Awards. This year’s finalists are:

  • Ashley Beatty-Smith - Executive Director for University Advising, University College
  • Kelly Broughton - Director of Operational Purchasing and Travel, Business Service Center
  • Betsy Kunstel - Academic Advisor for First Year Students, College of Health Sciences and Professions

The Outstanding Administrator Awards are conferred each year to three individuals who exemplify creativity and innovation, along with distinguished service to Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University. The recipients are selected by an Administrative Senate committee after a nomination period and an extensive interview process.

The 2024-2025 Outstanding Administrator Award winners

Terry St. Peter

Terry St. Peter

St.  Peter is the director for the Brigadier General James M. Abraham & Colonel Arlene F. Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University

In his position with Veterans and Military Student Services Center, St. Peter plays a vital role in supporting veteran and military-connected students. His leadership extends across multiple initiatives, including the Faculty and Staff Veterans Awareness Program, known as Landing Zone Training, the Veterans Lounge, student mentorship and advising, and transfer credit articulation—ensuring veterans receive recognition for the skills they have earned through their service.

His peers describe him as a tireless advocate, seasoned leader, and effective communicator—someone who embodies excellence and inspires those around him to strive for their best. They also commend his commitment to creating a welcoming environment, fostering continuous improvement, and ensuring that all students, regardless of their military connection, feel supported.

Rebecca Miller

Rebecca Miller

Miller is the executive director of community relations for the College of Health Sciences and Professions.

In her role at OHIO, Miller works with community partners to establish meaningful opportunities for students to engage with those partners. Many of these agencies support underserved populations, so by facilitating the connection, she is enabling students to gain valuable experiences.  

Miller’s colleagues speak highly of her for treating everyone with genuine interest and respect. One of her strongest attributes is her ability to bring people together. In fact, they said she is an expert at fostering positive relationships, and it is one of her superpowers.

Larry Hayman

Larry Hayman, Esq.

Hayman is the director of legal engagement and the Pre-Law Program at the Center for Law, Justice and Culture and Center for Advising, Career and Experiential Learning in the College of Arts and Sciences.

In his capacity as director, Hayman is responsible for student career advising, supervision, and fostering student growth through experiential learning. Hayman has earned a well-deserved reputation for diligence, ingenuity, and precision across numerous fields of strategic importance to the University

Colleagues share that it has been a privilege to work with Hayman, and he has been praised for his talented ingenuity. They describe Hayman as having "an unwavering dedication to his students and the university, remarkable expertise, exceptional leadership, and extraordinary dedication to advising and mentoring students."
