WOUB to host Mindful Media panel discussion

The world of media and journalism is fast-paced and exciting, but as young media professionals enter the industry it can be difficult to balance the stress that comes with first jobs and career changes. That’s why WOUB Public Media is hosting a panel discussion called Mindful Media: Balancing Anxiety, First Jobs and Career Changes with five recent Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University graduates on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Alumni Silver Barker ’24, Nick Viland ’22, Erin Ashley ’23, André Norrils ’23 and Will Price ’22, who all worked at WOUB Public Media while they were students, will talk about their career journeys thus far along with the stress and anxiety around working their first jobs and navigating career opportunities that were unexpected. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the ups and downs of a young media career and lessons learned, as well as the importance of leaning on family, friends and the WOUB network while charting your course. The panel will be moderated by WOUB News Editor-in-Chief Atish Baidya.

The event is open to all WOUB students and will be held on the 3rd Floor of the Radio and TV Building in Radio Studio A on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Pizza will be served. Students can register here:

Funding for this event was provided by the Doug Drew WOUB Student Professional Development Fund.
