Ģ����Ƶ University’s (CCCE) will host a Civic Engagement Forum from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 in Baker University Center, Room 219. The forum, entitled “Today’s Voters & Today’s Leaders,” is part of the University’s efforts to promote non-partisan civic engagement.

This non-partisan event provides a platform for students to engage directly with elected public officials and civic leaders to learn about the political process and discuss issues that matter to college students and the communities to which they belong. The Civic Engagement Forum is part of the CCCE’s institution-wide effort to increase student voter registration, election turn-out, civil dialogue, and freedom of expression to ensure Ģ����Ƶ University students are engaged and informed life-long citizens.

The Civic Engagement Forum will feature several panels and facilitated discussion, including:

Young Elected Officials: how Gen Z and Millennials are leading political change

Panelists will include:

• Christina Muryn, mayor of Findlay, Ģ����Ƶ
• Amy Flowers, former city council member of Athens, Ģ����Ƶ and OHIO alumna
• Dontavius L. Jarrells, Ģ����Ƶ House of Representatives for District 25
• Micah Covert, school board president of Nelsonville-York Public School District
• Stephanie Zader, city council member of Mansfield, Ģ����Ƶ

Defending Democracy and the Right to Vote: from redistricting to the fight to protect the right to vote

Panelists will include:

• Jen Miller, executive director, League of Women Voters of Ģ����Ƶ
• Greer Aeschbury, Ģ����Ƶ campaign manager, All Voting is Local
• Catherine Turcer, executive director, Common Cause Ģ����Ƶ

Civil Dialogue: cultivating empathy and understanding, ideological diversity and solution-oriented politics

• Facilitated by BridgeUSA representatives

Students and community members may register , but pre-registration is not required.
