The Linguistics Colloquium series presents Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University alumnus J. Elliott Casal discussing “Complex Noun Phrases and Holistic Syntactic Complexity in Niche-Building Moves: Addressing the ‘Function-Form Gap’ with Corpus-Based Genre Analysis." He is a doctoral candidate at Penn State in Applied Linguistics.

Friday, April 12, 7 - 8:30 p.m. Shirley Wimmer Dance Theatre, Putnam Hall

The School of Dance presents the annual Spring Senior Dance Concert, the culminating project for B.F.A. Dance majors. Held at the Shirley Wimmer Dance Theatre located in Putnam Hall, general admission is $8 and students are free, through support from arts for OHIO.

Friday, April 12, 11 p.m. Hahne Theater, Kantner Hall

Often, we think of the stakes surrounding disasters in terms of life and death. This week’s show, produced by third-year MFA playwright, Inna Tsyrlin, explores the unseen consequences of disasters. Writers will explore what is lost, what is worth saving, how do we rebuild, and how does humanity carry on.

Come join the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Student Anthropology Society or Anthropology Club for a day at the Great Serpent Mound. The event includes a tour of the site and hopefully participation in group activities.

We’ll discuss awards like the Marshall, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge, Rhodes, and Knight Hennessy scholarships, as well as approaches to composing their applications.

Monday, April 15, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Alden Library Room 319

The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs will host a Green Jobs Panel for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members who are interested in learning from people in various environmental job sectors about their academic and career paths.

In the spirit of providing a forum to explore the humanistic aspects of inclusion, this event invites students to share their unique life experiences and challenges on the path to becoming a physician. Five medical students will be chosen to share their stories at the event.

Thursday, April 18, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Baker Center 233

This one and a half hour, interactive workshop will highlight the ways in which women have traditionally undersold their skills and provide opportunities for participants to self-reflect on their own experiences.

Thursday, April 18, 5 - 6:30 p.m. Bentley Hall 124

The Center for Law, Justice & Culture presents book launch panel for "Money at the Margins: Global Perspectives on Technology, Financial Inclusion, and Design" on Thursday, April 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Bentley Hall 124. The panelists will discuss changes in the uses and meanings of money in various sites across the Global South, and the uses and socio-cultural impact of new forms of money and financial services. The book, published by Berghahn Books, is part of The Human Economy series.
