Fall Concert features the ĢƵ Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band in Memorial Auditorium

The ĢƵ University School of Music is pleased to announce a concert featuring the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band, with conductors Drs. Andrew Trachsel and Richard Suk, and featuring graduate conductors Slade Denman and Brooke Woods, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
Performances include James Stephenson’s Symphony No. 2 “Voices,” Julie Giroux’s “Riften Wed,” Grainger’s “Lads of Wamphray,” Dello Joio’s “Satiric Dances,” Vaughan Williams’ “Toccata Marziale,” and “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik.
The Wind Symphony is conducted by Trachsel, Director of Bands. The Symphonic Band is conducted by Suk, Associate Director of Bands. The Wind Symphony’s performance of the Stephenson Second Symphony will also feature mezzo-soprano Alexandra Bruno. Graduate students Denman and Woods will also be featured as conductors with the Symphonic Band. This is the first concert for the ĢƵ University Bands 2018/19 Season.
