What are you most excited about as you take your next step in your career?
I’m excited to begin my journey as a family physician having my very own patients and families to care for. I’m looking forward to building lasting relationships with my patients in the community. I’m also so excited to get to train at Dublin and work with the dream team of residents and faculty!
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice, what would it be?
In this journey, both getting into and during medical school, put your blinders on, and don’t compare yourself to those around you. Everyone is trying to do their best and, honestly, just get by a lot of the time. So celebrate the success of those around you.
What led you to a career in medicine?
When I was in high school, two people close to me suffered severe strokes. I wanted to be able to learn how to treat and care for people with such debilitating diseases and prevent that from happening to others.
How would you describe your time at the Heritage College?
I loved it! My classmates at Dublin were so supportive and uplifting to each other, and the friends that I made truly helped me get to where I am today. There are also so many wonderful faculty and preceptors who put so much time into teaching us and helping us grow as students-I’m so grateful.
Looking back on medical school, what were you most important experiences?
My most important experiences were probably my family medicine rotations. I was able to see what a day-to-day life as a family medicine physician looked like and that helped solidify my decision to go into primary care.
Another one would have to be becoming a mom! Having my son William in the middle of residency interviews was challenging at times, but I am so grateful for the support from my school and my family that helped me to finish medical school as a new mom!
Tell us about your inspirations in life.
My mom is one of my biggest inspirations, she does so much for so many people and has taught me how to love and care for people well.
Who has helped you along the way? Is there anyone you want to recognize?
So many people!! My husband, parents, and my whole family have been incredibly supportive through the ups and downs of the last four years. I can’t name all my classmates and friends but I truly don’t think I would have gotten through without my group study sessions with McKenna Carey, Julia Barbera and Jacob Wendel. Some of the other people who have helped me grow as a student and learner include Dr. Arenstein, Dr. Patel and Dr. Gorman.
What hobbies do you have?
I love being outside and go on walks most days. My husband and I enjoy working out together and trying out different restaurants and breweries around Bridge Park, now with our son too!
