Doug Orr

Doug Orr serves as an advisor in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Honors Program. He arrived at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University as an active-duty U.S. Army Officer in July of 2000 to lead the Army ROTC program as the Professor of Military Science. After completing twenty years of military service in 2005, Doug retired from the Army and began a second career in higher education with a focus on academic advising. He enjoys helping students navigate the in-class and out-of-class requirements of the honors program and providing them options of how to customize it to fit their academic interests and life goals. When he is not brainstorming with students about how to maximize their time at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University, Doug loves to read historical fiction, play “fetch'' with his dog, Spencer, and compete on the local pickleball courts. Both of Doug’s children are OHIO alums; although he says they did not always take his graciously offered academic advice!
