Expert Bio

Mourning is an assistant professor of Computer Science at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University. A native of Middleport, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Mourning received his Ph.D. from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University in 2015.  His main research areas include Computer Graphics & Data Visualization, Modeling & Simulation, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Aviation Safety, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning with applications in Meteorology. 

Before becoming faculty in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mourning served as a Research Computer Scientist for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University’s Avionics Engineering Center, and maintains his role as lead developer on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University NAVAID Performance Prediction Model. 

Mourning is currently serving as Principal Investigator on the Low Altitude Weather Network project and has other ongoing funded projects by NASA, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Space Grant Consortium, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Cyber Range Institute, and the FAA. He is also the Director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University’s Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ First programs for Computer Science and Advanced Manufacturing.
