Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First Scholarships

The Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First Scholarships provide Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ residents with additional financial support to complete degrees in STEM related disciplines.  Students who are Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ residents may be eligible for a Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First scholarship through one of three programs listed below.  These programs are designed to significantly strengthen Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµâ€™s competitiveness within STEM disciplines and STEM education by investing in innovative academic programs across the state.

All Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First scholarship recipients are expected (required) to complete a Work-Based Learning experience prior to graduation.

Cohort 1 - Computer Science

Open to computer science majors.

Benefits:

  • Dedicated tutoring pool for Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First scholars.
  • Dedicated travel funds for research-active Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First Scholars.
  • Dedicated research fellowships for Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First Scholars (additional application required).

Requirements:

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Mandatory one-on-one advising session with their Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First advisor once per semester to ensure satisfactory academic progress.
  • Must remain in computer science.

Cohort 2 - Advanced Manufacturing

Open to all engineering majors.

Benefits:

  • Exclusive programming includes bi-weekly seminars on topics relevant to advanced manufacturing 
Advanced manufacturing students at General Mills
Advanced manufacturing Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First students tour the General Mills facility in Wellston, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

Requirements:

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Attend 8 hours of Choose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ First events during the semester.

Cohort 3 - Energy and the Environment

Open to all majors in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology that involve Energy or the Environment.

Benefits:

  • TBD

Requirements:

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
