Dr. Melinda Maher Rutherford holds a B.A. in Psychology from Marshall University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Life-Span Development Psychology from West Virginia University. Dr. Rutherford currently teaches EDTE 2000: Learning, Human Growth and Development, EDTE 2020: Field Experience in Education, EDTE 1000: Intro to Teaching, and EDEC 1600: Intro to Child Development.  She serves as the Program Coordinator for the sophomore education block and the Rural Urban Collaborative.  Her research interests include educational psychology, Generation Z learners, temperament and personality, and helping children with anxiety and emotion regulationPrior to her employment at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University, Dr. Rutherford worked as the Director of Assessment and Instructional Research at Bluefield State College in Bluefield, WV and as the Dean of Instruction at Mid-South Community College in West Memphis, AR.
